Whether you’re looking for an educational tour, a relaxing culinary experience, or an interactive day of fun, Colaisde na Gàidhlig has something for you! While visiting Colaisde na Gàidhlig, enjoy a day filled with culture, learning, and fun.
The Craft Shop at Colaisde na Gàidhlig is your first stop when visiting campus and is now open all year round! Home to a great variety of treasures, the Craft Shop specializes in Celtic jewelry, Gaelic language and music books, local and regional CDs and DVDs, as well as a vast selection of handcrafted items like pottery, woodcarvings, stained glass, clothing, greeting cards, and books from Cape Breton and surrounding areas. Of course, you’ll also find a great array of wonderful Gaelic College merchandise, as well as items made right here on-campus.
We are your one-stop-shop for specialty items like stunning hand-woven wear, custom-made tartan clothing and accessories, and our gorgeous new collection, “Spadiul” (Gaelic for “well-dressed”). All made on-site at the College.
The Great Hall of the Clans is the home of your cultural experiences on campus. With an interactive museum, you will discover the ancient history of the settlers to this area from the Highlands of Scotland, along with an exploration of the traditions still living today.
Get a first-hand look at the living traditions of Nova Scotia Gaels with our cultural demonstrations. Witness the construction of a great kilt, learn some Gaelic words and a song during a milling frolic, try a step or two to traditional Cape Breton music, and watch our master weaver create one-of-a-kind pieces at the loom.
During the summer, make plans for one of our Blas Math lunchtime ceilidhs, and get a taste of our lively music and dance, and a hearty home-cooked meal. Tap your toes to the sounds of fiddle, piano, bagpipes, Gaelic song, and much more when you join us for lunch!
At the Gaelic College, we can accommodate your specific group tour needs with many different package options. From our cultural demonstrations to tours of the Great Hall of the Clans, to lunchtime ceilidhs, and refreshments, we want your visit to be a most memorable one.
