Cùrsaichean Gàidhlig air an eadar-lìn / Gaelic Courses on the Internet

'S a' cheud dol amach feumiadh mi aideachadh nach eil mi uile-eòlach air na cùrsaichean Gàidhlig a bhios ri fhaotainn air an eadar-lìn ach sgrìobhaidh mi rud beag air na tha fhios agam air, na bhios ri fhaotainn air taobh seo a' Chuain Shiair co dhùbh.

Chan eil mi 'nam bheachd gun urrainn do dhaoine Gàidhlig a thogail gu ìre àrd air an eadar-lìn. Ri mo chuid fhiosrachaidh 's e taomadh a nì feum gus daoin' a thoirt gu bruidhinn gu siùbhlach 's gu nàdurra, ann an suidheachadh far nach cluinnear a' Bheurla idir 's far nach bi cead aig duine sam bith a' Bheurla a chleachadh. Mar sin, ged a dh' fhaodas duine toiseach math a thoirt air ionnsachadh le bhith cleachdadh na bhios ri fhaotainn fad astair, chan eil fios 'am ciamar a gheibheadh duine gu ìre fhileanta ach gu pearsanta.

Bidh cùrsaichean ri fhaotainn do dhaoine aig a h-uile h-ìre de dh' ionnsachadh aig Acadamaidh Gàidhlig an Atlantaig. Bidh sia ìrean de chùrsaichean ri 'n tairgsinn a' seo, bho luchd tòisichidh gu ìre fhileanta far an leughar litreachas. Mairidh na cùrsaichean fichead seachdainn 's a deich ( trithead seachdainn ), a' tòiseachadh 'san t-Sultainn 's a' crìochnachadh 'sa Chéitein, agus clas le neach teagaisg an làthair gach uile seachdainn. O 'n a bhios oileanaich aca bho iomadh ceàrna dhe 'n t-saoghal, bidh luchd teagaisg aca air feadh Aimeiriaga a Tuath agus ann an Roinn Eòrpa, agus clasaichean 'gan cuir air bonn a bhios freagarrach do dhaoine ann an iomadh raon-ama.

Bidh dà chùrsa eile ( air ainm "Beul an Tobair" ) ri 'm faotainn aig a' Cholaisde Ghàidhlig ann am Bàgh Naoimh Anna ann an Ceap Breatainn, aon dhiubh aig ìre thòisichidh agus fear eile na 's àrdaichte. Bidh dà leasan dheug ann an gach cùrsa agus faodaidh na sgoilearan na h-eagarsaidhean sgrìobt' a th' annta a chuir asteach airson ceartachadh uair sam bith. Faodaidh na sgoilearan tòiseachadh air na cùrsaichean seo aig àm sam bith agus a bhith dol air adhairt aig luathas a chòrdas riutha, fhad 's a chuireas iad crìoch orra taobh astaigh sia mìosan. ( sia mìosan do gach chùrsa )

Bidh cùrsa eile ri fhaotainn aig Sobhal Mór Ostaig, ach chan eil fhios agam air ged a chuala mi gu tric gu robh e fìor mhath. A' bharrachd air a' sin, faodar ionnsachadh le na leasanan "Taic" agus bidh móran daoine a 's aithne dhomh a' cleachdadh BBC Alba airson Gàidhlig ionnsachadh. Bidh na làraichean lìnne seo glé chuideachdail, ach chan fhaighear ceartachadh no ais-mholadh bhuapa air mar a bhios tu a' faighinn air adhairt.

'S dòcha gu bheil cùrsaichean eile ann cuideachd air nach eil mi eòlach agus nam biodh duine airson cuir ris an liosta a th' agam a' seo, bhithinn taingeil.

**********

First, I must admit that I don't know everything about the Gaelic courses available online, but I'll write a bit about the ones I know, on this side of the Atlantic anyway.

I'm not of the opinion that people can learn Gaelic to a high level on the internet. In my experience it's immersions that are most useful to bring people to speaking easily and naturally, in a setting where English will not be heard and nobody is allowed to speak English. Therefore, although you can make a good start by using what's available at distance, I don't know how a person could become fluent except in person.

Courses are available to people at all levels of learning from the Atlantic Gaelic Academy. There are six levels offered here, from beginners to a fluent level where literature is read. The courses last for thirty weeks, starting in September and ending in May, with a class with a teacher every week. Since they have students from many regions of the world, they have teachers from throughout North America and Europe, and classes that are convenient for people in many time zones.

There are two courses ( called "Beul an Tobair" ) available from the Gaelic College in St. Ann's Bay in Cape Breton, one of them for beginners and the other more advanced. There are twelve lessons in each course and the students can send their written exercises in for correction at any time. The students can start the course at any time and advance at their own speed, as long as they finish within six months. ( six months for each course )

There is another course available from Sobhal Mór Ostaig but I don't have any information on it, although I've often heard that it is very good. Besides these you can learn from the "Taic" lessons and many people I know are using BBC Alba to learn Gaelic. These websites are very helpful, but you won't get corrections or feedback from them about how you're getting along.

There may be other courses that I don't know about and if anyone would want to add to the list I have here, I would be grateful.
